No Time to Die - trivia

Since Eunice Gayson portrayed Sylvia Trench in 'Dr. No’ (1962) and then in 'From Russia With Love,’ Léa Seydoux has been the only actress to play an erratic Bond girl in subsequent James Bond films (1963).

(For the 'Spectre’ character) Cary Joji Fukunaga, the film’s writer-director, admitted in 'Interview Magazine’ that he considered including a significant plot twist midway through the film. It was stated that the events of 'Spectre’ (2015) and the first part of that film were only happening in James Bond’s mind, as in 'Spectre’ (2015) he was still attached to Blofeld’s torture machine, with only an idea of his escape and subsequent events. However, the idea was never developed further than the initial thought.

In June 2019, a short promotional sequence of a gun barrel in black and white was released, replicating the one used in „Casino Royale” (2006) and suggesting that the usual gun barrel sequence for the series might not be used in this film.

The name „Safin” of Rami Malek’s antagonistic character in the film is of Arabic origin. Its literal meaning is „boat.” It is a male name for a boy, which can also be spelled „Safeen”. Actor Rami Malek is of Arabic (Egyptian) descent and was raised speaking colloquial Masri, or Egyptian Arabic, until the age of four. Malek is only the second actor of Arab descent to win an Academy Award (Oscar) for Best Actor. F. Murray Abraham won for „Amadeus” (1984), while Malek won for „Bohemian Rhapsody” well over 34 years later (2018).

The French hand-knitted wool plush rabbit doll Mathilde (Lisa-Dorah Sonnet) owned in the film was called a „doudou” or „dou dou.” This is a French term that translates into English as „blankie”. It is produced by a French company called „Une Pelote de Laine.” According to reports, sales of the French toy increased after the release of the film.

The official presentation and announcement of the film took place in GoldenEye, Jamaica, where Ian Fleming developed the James Bond character in 1952. On the island, Ian Fleming wrote twelve novels and two collections of short stories. Island Outpost, which was created by Chris Blackwell, former owner of Island Records, owns and operates GoldenEye. Although GoldenEye was not used as a filming location, key filmmakers and key cast members stayed there for the premiere party and the Jamaican portion of the shoot.

When James Bond (Daniel Craig) asks Logan Ash (Billy Magnussen), „Who’s the blond?”, it’s a joke and a reference to the controversy surrounding Craig’s original casting in the role in 2005 and being dubbed the blond James Bond, which was announced in the British media as „James Blond” (Craig was also dubbed „James Bland”).
