Men storyline

After the tragic death of her husband, Harper (Jessie Buckley) goes on a solitary vacation to a beautiful English estate, where she hopes to rid herself of the memories haunting her. However, someone or something in the surrounding woods does not give her peace of mind. The young woman’s growing anxiety begins to turn into a real nightmare that will be filled with her most terrifying memories and fears.

• The young Geoffrey’s plastic mask—which depicts a blonde woman—clearly represents the town’s dearth of women and fixation with femininity.
• There are hints that the guys in the village are connected before it is revealed that they are all the same entity. The vicar, like the nude man, has two growing nails.
• The meaning of dandelions is profound. All dandelions are clones of a single original specimen because dandelions reproduce asexually through a process known as parthenogenesis. This reveals something about the males in the village, all of whom are portrayed by Rory Kinnear.
• Except for Samuel, the youngster in the mask (played by Zak Rothera-Oxley with Kinnear’s face digitally changed), and James, Harper’s late husband, all the males „born” from each other are played by Rory Kinnear (Paapa Essiedu). In an interview, Kinnear said that each of the characters he played represented a characteristic of masculine conduct, „be it from the micro to the macro violence.” He added that he made an effort to prevent each character from becoming into a stereotype by making sure that how Harper reacted to them as well as their own personal life affected how they acted.
• Famous British artist Beryl Cook’s work, which almost exclusively depicts women and which is conspicuously absent from the community, is on display in the pub.
• Alex Garland, the director, claimed that he had been fixated on the Green Man for more than ten years. Rory Kinnear claims that Garland played a significant role in the character’s creation. Garland assisted Kinnear with the last phases of makeup while still letting Kinnear fully embody the role in the way he moved and behaved.
